WHAT???!!!!!

While reading Great Expectations there is a lot that I don't understand but the one quote that sticks out is why Pip calls his experiences his "Expectations". In chapter 31 In the last paragraph Pip Says "and miserably dreamed that my expectations were canceled. (Pp. 259). Why would he refer to them like this? why not his, dreams or accomplishments. Please help me!

  1. I think he is referring to them this way because in reality, Pip's actions are almost only what he expects, what he expects from the world, what he expects others to do, what he expects his fortune to bring. His expectations are the driving force of his life, his sole outlook on what's happening. Also once he ascends to wealth you can tell that he no longer dreams of things to happen, he expects them to.
